Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 28 August, at the Tashkent-Central railway station, three new mainline electric locomotives of the 3ES5K series ("ERMAK") were presented.
The new equipment was delivered in accordance with the investment project with the Russian Transmashholding. There are now seven electric locomotives of this modification in Uzbekistan. Two of them arrived in 2018. In July of this year - two and three more today.
The solemn event was attended by heads of departments and departments of Uzbekiston Temir Yollari, as well as media representatives.
Specialists who spoke at the presentation ceremony emphasized the importance of new technology in the cargo transportation process.
“Today, the total length of Uzbekistan’s railways exceeds 7,500 kilometers and continues to expand, at the same time, the number of electrified sections is growing, which means that the demand for electric locomotives is also growing,” says Akmal Soriev, deputy head of the Locomotive Operation Department of Uzbekiston Temir Yollari. - The computerized electric locomotive system extends the life of the electronic devices and improves the operational safety. the process of technical inspection of these electric locomotives is also different. Namely, if the previous electric locomotives are inspected once every three days, then these electric locomotives will undergo an inspection process once every 10 days.
It should be noted that the electric locomotives that were delivered today will be in service at the regional railway junctions in Tashkent, Bukhara and Karshi.
