Uzbekistan’s Textile Clusters Continue to Accumulate Debts to Farmers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Textile clusters in Uzbekistan continue to accumulate substantial debts to farmers. This pressing issue was one of the main topics discussed during an open dialogue with representatives of the textile industry, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 19 July.

During the event, Sherzod Kudbiev, Chairman of the State Tax Committee, drew attention to the persistent debt owed by textile clusters. In response to a follow-up question from Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, regarding the current status of settlements with farmers, Kudbiev confirmed that the debts remain outstanding.

Akhadbek Khaydarov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, who also attended the meeting, corroborated this information.

“It is one thing for clusters to owe money to the government or to banks, but what is particularly concerning is the large volume of debt still owed directly to farmers.

We are talking about significant sums. This situation, in turn, makes it more difficult for farmers to fulfill their tax obligations, pay wages, and service loans,” emphasized the head of the tax authority.
