Uzbekistan's Securities Market Grows Nearly 70-Fold in May, Trading Volume Hits 4.79 Trillion Soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In May 2025, the total trading volume on Uzbekistan’s securities market reached 4.79 trillion soums (USUS$371.25 million), marking an increase of 4.72 trillion soums compared to May 2024 — an almost 70-fold surge, according to the Uzbekistan Stock Exchange (UZSE).
Of this total, 726.91 billion soums (USUS$56.28 million), or 15.17%, came from transactions involving instruments listed on the exchange’s quotation list. The remaining turnover was generated through operations on the organized over-the-counter (OTC) trading platform.
A total of 23,396 transactions were recorded, 19,474 fewer than the previous month — a decrease of 45.43%. Of these, 19,158 deals involved listed securities, while 4,238 transactions took place on the OTC platform.
The average daily trading volume in May stood at 228.17 billion soums (USUS$17.68 million), with an average of 1,114 transactions per day.
The Uzbekistan Composite Index (UCI) rose by 1.16% during the month, closing at 659.91 points.
Trading volume in equities reached 657.85 billion soums (USUS$50.94 million), an increase of 649.23 billion soums from the previous May — a 76-fold growth. The majority of these transactions — 625.40 billion soums — occurred on the Free of Payment (FoP) platform. The average daily turnover in the equity market amounted to 31.33 billion soums (USUS$2.43 million), with 865 transactions per day on average.
The market capitalization of listed equities rose by 5.73 trillion soums (2.36%) to reach 248.31 trillion soums (USUS$19.45 billion). The free float — the value of shares available for public trading — stood at 4.07 trillion soums (USUS$318.44 million). As of the end of May, 135 shares from various issuers were listed on the exchange.
The corporate bond market saw a trading volume of 69.05 billion soums (USUS$5.34 million), up by 18 billion soums, or 35.26%, compared to May of the previous year. The average daily turnover in this segment was 3.29 billion soums, with an average of 47 deals per day.
The total market capitalization of bonds listed on the exchange reached 1.5 trillion soums (USUS$113.94 million), with 18 bond issues listed at the end of the month.
Overall, the quotation list included 153 instruments from 102 issuers by the end of the reporting period.
On the OTC platform, 4,238 deals were concluded in May — a 4.76% decrease compared to May 2024. However, the total trading volume reached 4.06 trillion soums (USUS$314.98 million), representing a 478-fold increase compared to the same month last year. These transactions involved securities issued by 103 different companies.
