Uzbekistan’s President Receives Update on Population and Agricultural Census
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the progress of the ongoing population and agricultural census, which is regarded as a key tool for evidence-based planning of demographic trends, regional development, labor market management, and social infrastructure.
During the briefing, it was noted that the census is being conducted in accordance with international standards, with extensive use of modern digital solutions. The process is organized in two stages, running from 15 January to 28 February 2026.
The first stage, from 15 to 31 January, allows citizens to complete the census independently via a dedicated online platform. The second stage, scheduled from February 4 to 28, involves door-to-door visits by representatives of the “mahalla seven,” who will collect household data using tablets.
The online census is conducted through the portal census.stat.uz, with identification via the OneID system. Data monitoring and control are implemented using a geoinformation system.
Across the country, geolocations for over 7.6 million households and residential units have been created, along with specialized monitoring dashboards that enable real-time tracking of census operations.
It was emphasized that all information provided by citizens is securely protected under the law. Personal data is used exclusively for statistical purposes and will not be disclosed.
To ensure high organizational standards, 14 regional and 208 district and city headquarters have been established. Around 60,000 census takers have been trained, including 54,000 members of the “mahalla seven,” 2,600 reserve staff, and 4,000 territorial headquarters members. Additionally, 480 trainers from ministries and agencies and 3,200 university volunteers have completed preparatory training.
Significant attention has been given to public awareness and education. A total of 110 thematic videos and 600 television reports have been produced, 6,300 social media materials have been published, and over 23,000 informational displays have been installed in public spaces and on public transport.
As of now, 2.48 million households, as well as 31,000 farms and agricultural enterprises, have completed the census through the online platform.
President Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of ensuring high-quality census operations, the reliability and accuracy of collected data, and the extensive use of this information in developing and implementing government policies and decisions.
