Uzbekistan’s Passenger Car Imports Fall 20% in the First 11 Months of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–November 2025, Uzbekistan’s total passenger car imports declined by 20.1% compared to the same period in 2024, amounting to approximately US$1.02 billion, according to data from the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Electric vehicles became the main growth driver of the automotive market. Over the first eleven months of 2025, the country imported 51,856 electric cars worth US$612.2 million — more than double in volume and up 172% in value from a year earlier (24,091 EVs worth US$224.7 million).
At the same time, imports of gasoline-powered cars fell sharply: only 16,985 units worth US$336.5 million were brought into the country during the reporting period, a decline of 48.5% in quantity and 52.4% in value compared to January–November 2024.
A steep drop was also recorded in the hybrid segment (gasoline + electric motor): imports fell from 17,480 to 2,728 units, with the value decreasing from US$339.3 million to US$69.2 million — down 84.4% in volume and 79.6% in value.
Imports of diesel passenger cars remain negligible. From January to November 2025, only 97 such vehicles worth US$2.4 thousand were imported, compared to 22 units worth US$5.1 thousand a year earlier.
