Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Education Discusses Modernization of Vocational Education for the Green Economy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 January 2026, a working meeting was held at the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, Science, and Innovation as part of the project “Modernization of Vocational Education for the Green Economy,” implemented with financial support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The meeting was attended by Minister of Education and Science K. Sharipov, his deputy O. Salomov, Director of the Agency for Vocational Education A. Khusanov, Head of the ADB Country Operations Unit M.I. Gulamov, and other representatives of the bank.

During the discussions, participants reviewed the project concept, planned the preparation of documentation for initiative assessment, and identified priority tasks to be implemented in the near future. The project envisions strengthening the material and technical base of Ferghana and Bukhara State Technical Universities, equipping vocational education institutions with modern equipment, enhancing teacher qualifications, updating curricula, introducing dual education programs, and developing collaboration between educational institutions and industrial enterprises.

The primary goal of the project is to train young specialists with modern competencies in demand under a green economy, increase their competitiveness in the labor market, and contribute to the country’s sustainable economic growth.

Special attention is also being given to improving the quality of education, ensuring inclusivity, and promoting gender equality.
