Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Construction and the World Bank discuss residential energy efficiency program
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan with a delegation from the World Bank led by project coordinator Jorn Huenteler. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Ozoda Juraeva, Chairman of the Board of JSC Issiqlikta’minoti Ilhom Turaev, and other responsible officials.
As part of the President of Uzbekistan’s initiatives, a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented to improve the energy efficiency of multi-apartment residential buildings. A significant step in this direction was the adoption of Presidential Decree No. 100 in 2025, which provides for a deep reform of the residential heating system and aims to strengthen the energy resilience of buildings.
According to the decree, between 2026 and 2030, 1,034 apartment buildings — comprising 53,044 apartments — will be renovated in the cities of Andijan, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Chirchik.
During the meeting, participants discussed the development of a project model for the residential energy efficiency program, as well as the approval and practical implementation of a roadmap for the planned activities with support from the World Bank.
"Today, improving energy efficiency and the rational use of resources are among the most pressing global challenges. Under the President’s direction, we are actively advancing projects in this field, and I am confident that our cooperation will be effective and benefit our people," emphasized Ozoda Juraeva.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to continue constructive collaboration.
