Uzbekistan’s Interior Ministry denies reports of a "protest" in National Park
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has denied media and online reports claiming that Chinese citizens staged a "protest" or "parade" in Tashkent’s National Park.
According to ministry spokesperson Shokhrukh Giyasov, employees of Huawei held a routine run on 15 February, part of a regular event organized on Saturdays and Sundays.
"A group of people wearing white jackets and T-shirts, carrying red banners and flags, did walk through the park while chanting certain slogans. However, the Chinese-language banners only contained messages promoting a healthy lifestyle, such as 'Sports are the key to health—run and stay fit,'" Giyasov clarified.
He also emphasized that such events deserve attention and could serve as a positive example for other organizations.
