Uzbekistan’s General Prosecutor’s Office Uncovers Large-Scale Driver’s License Forgery Scheme
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues its investigation into a criminal case involving the forgery of driver’s licenses, implicating employees of public service centers and other individuals.
According to the investigation, more than 1,200 fake driver’s licenses were illegally issued across eight regions of the country: the city of Tashkent, Surkhandarya, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Namangan, Navoiy, Andijan, and Kashkadarya.
Preliminary findings show that 455 holders of these forged documents committed 1,305 traffic violations. Nine individuals were involved in traffic accidents, resulting in six people being injured and three fatalities.
Due to the scale and complexity of the case, a special investigative-operational group has been established under the General Prosecutor’s Office.
A comprehensive verification of the forged licenses and related documents is currently underway, and investigative measures are ongoing.
The General Prosecutor’s Office urges citizens to obtain driver’s licenses only through legal channels and reminds that the use of forged documents carries legal liability under the country’s legislation.
