Uzbekistan’s GDP to grow by 5.3% in 2019 - World Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s economic growth will be 5.3% in 2019. This was stated in the World Bank report on the economic situation in the region of Europe and Central Asia.

Earlier, World Bank experts predicted that Uzbekistan’s GDP in 2019 would grow by 5.1%.

At the same time, the World Bank retained its forecast for GDP growth in Uzbekistan in 2020 at the level of 5.5% and in 2021 at the level of 6%.

Inflation in Uzbekistan in 2019 will be 14.8%, in 2020 - 14.1% and in 2021 - 11%, the report says.

Uzbekistan’s debt in 2019 will be 28.1% of GDP, and in 2020 - 29% and in 2021 - 28.5%.

Bank experts expect Uzbekistan to liberalize sectors such as tourism, food, chemical and textile industries. The bank expects the government to restrict lending to the economy, which will support financial discipline in the country.
