Uzbekistan’s Fruit and Vegetable Imports Rise 37% in Jan-Feb

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In January–February 2026, Uzbekistan imported fruits and vegetables worth US$100.4 million, up 37.5% from US$73.1 million in the same period in 2025, according to the Uzbekistan Customs Committee.

The total volume of shipments also increased from 73,060 tons to 100,404 tons, reflecting the same 37.5% growth.

Mandarins remained the leading import in both volume and value, rising from 30.4 million kg worth US$9 million to 45.6 million kg valued at US$23.3 million — a 50% increase in volume and 159% in value.

Banana imports were almost unchanged in volume, 34 million kg versus 34.1 million kg, but their value increased 42% from US$8.4 million to US$11.95 million.

Potatoes were imported at 196.6 million kg compared to 191.6 million kg a year earlier, although their value fell from US$18.8 million to US$10.9 million.

Among other popular fruits and nuts, imports of nuts rose from 3.4 million kg (US$5.06 million) to 4.75 million kg (US$7 million). Dates increased from 5.45 million kg (US$4.9 million) to 6.16 million kg (US$6.88 million).

Apples and pears also grew: apples from 10.4 million kg (US$3.35 million) to 15.9 million kg (US$5.46 million), and pears from 6.29 million kg (US$1.86 million) to 10.28 million kg (US$4.32 million).

Pineapples were imported at 6.92 million kg worth US$2.29 million, up from 2.14 million kg (US$0.69 million) in 2025, while hybrid fruits and berries such as kiwi and avocado more than doubled.

Vegetable imports showed mixed trends: bell peppers grew from 1.04 million kg (US$0.24 million) to 1.1 million kg (US$0.33 million), garlic from 1 million kg (US$0.34 million) to 1.89 million kg (US$0.32 million). Frozen vegetables declined from 88,000 kg (US$0.11 million) to 80,700 kg (US$0.096 million).
