Uzbekistan’s Foreign Trade: China and Russia Key Partners with 37.2% Share

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — China and Russia strengthened their positions as Uzbekistan’s key economic partners in 2025, accounting for more than one-third (37.2%) of the country’s total foreign trade turnover.

According to official data, from January to December 2025, Uzbekistan maintained trade relations with 210 countries worldwide.

In 2025, the country’s foreign trade turnover (FTT) reached US$81.2 billion, exceeding 2024 levels by US$13.9 billion, or +20.7%. Of this total, exports amounted to US$33.81 billion (+24.0% compared to 2024), while imports reached US$47.35 billion (+18.5%), resulting in a trade deficit of US$13.54 billion.

The largest shares of foreign trade turnover were recorded with China (21.2%), Russia (16.0%), Kazakhstan (6.1%), Türkiye (3.7%), and the Republic of Korea (2.1%).

A detailed analysis of Uzbekistan’s ten largest trading partners in 2025, with trade turnover in million US$, is as follows:

China
Beijing retained its leading position with a substantial margin. Trade in 2025 reached US$17.22 billion, up +35.9% from US$12.67 billion in 2024. China’s share of Uzbekistan’s total foreign trade turnover was 21.2%.

Russian Federation
Russia ranked second with a turnover of US$12.98 billion, representing an increase of +8.4% compared to US$11,974.1 million in 2024.

Kazakhstan
The regional partner recorded trade of US$4,969.6 million, up +11.4% from US$4,462.1 million in 2024.

Türkiye
Trade amounted to US$3.02 billion, slightly down by -0.4% compared to US$3.04 billion in 2024.

Republic of Korea
Trade turnover reached US$1.74 billion, declining by -14.0% from US$2.02 billion in 2024.

Afghanistan
One of the fastest-growing partners, Afghanistan’s trade turnover reached US$1.68 billion, up +47.5% from US$1.14 billion in 2024.

Germany
Uzbekistan’s largest European partner recorded trade of US$1.43 billion, an increase of +13.9% from US$1.25 billion in 2024.

France
Trade with France amounted to US$1.38 billion, growing by +20.6% compared to US$1.14 billion in 2024.

India
Trade with India reached US$1.32 billion, up +33.4% from US$988.1 million in 2024.

United Arab Emirates
The UAE completed the top ten with trade of US$1.25 billion, marking a growth of +52.7% compared to US$821.8 million in 2024.
