Uzbekistan’s Football Club “Metallurg” Resumes Activities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s football team “Metallurg,” one of the country’s oldest professional clubs, has resumed its activities.

The decision to reorganize the club was made within the framework of the professional football development program, aimed at nurturing talented players capable of performing at both national and international levels.

At a ceremonial event for fans and club staff, new approaches to team management, creation of a professional environment, and preparation for future sporting achievements were presented.

Special attention is being paid to the strategic development of the club, working with foreign players, and strengthening sports infrastructure.

The reorganization of “Metallurg” aims not only at sporting objectives but also at fostering professional values, promoting football culture, and inspiring youth.

Founded in 1945, “Metallurg” has long held a prominent place in Bekabad’s sporting life, participating in the Super League and First League competitions. The club’s most successful period was 2002, when it finished fifth in the Super League.

Over the years, the club has earned respect among fans and the Uzbek football community, training numerous young players. In recent years, the team’s activities were temporarily suspended due to organizational and financial challenges; however, its name, history, and traditions have retained their significance, making the club’s revival an important initiative for the development of football in the region.
