Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Fatwa Center under the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan has issued an official statement warning believers against using ChatGPT for religious inquiries.
The statement comes in response to a public question about the permissibility of relying on AI for religious explanations. Experts from the Center emphasized that such practices are unacceptable.
“Yes, ChatGPT can be useful in many areas. However, it cannot provide accurate and reliable answers to religious questions, as it is a man-made technological product. Moreover, it sometimes gives speculative responses, claiming that certain issues are discussed in specific books, even quoting Arabic phrases that are in fact absent from those books or other authoritative sources of fiqh,” the statement reads.
The Fatwa Center strongly advises the public to seek guidance solely from recognized scholars and verified religious sources to avoid distortions and misunderstandings in matters of faith.
