Uzbekistan’s Experience Showcased at FAO International Meeting

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A ministerial conference was held at the FAO headquarters in Rome on the theme “South–South and Triangular Cooperation as a Catalyst for Agrifood System Transformation: Commitments, Approaches, and Country Experiences” (SSTC as a Catalyst for Agrifood System Transformation: commitments, approaches and experiences from the countries).

The event was attended by FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, the Ministers of Agriculture of China and Jordan, as well as leaders from several countries and international organizations.

In his speech, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, emphasized the importance of developing South–South and triangular cooperation as an ecosystem of interaction grounded in innovation, knowledge, and human capital.

Specifically, the minister presented Uzbekistan’s initiatives to implement “green economy” principles in agriculture and to establish and develop a carbon market.

According to Abdurakhmonov, these directions create new economic opportunities for farmers and accelerate adaptation processes to climate change.

The meeting represented an important step in strengthening Uzbekistan’s strategic partnership with the FAO and in enhancing its engagement in South–South and triangular cooperation.
