Uzbekistan’s Economy Grew by 7.7% in 2025, GDP Exceeds 1.85 Quadrillion Soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Preliminary data indicate that from January to December 2025, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Republic of Uzbekistan in current prices amounted to 1.85 quadrillion soums. Compared to the same period in 2024, the country’s economy grew by 7.7 percent in real terms, according to the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics.

The GDP deflator relative to prices from January–December 2024 stood at 111.9 percent. The highest deflator indices within the GDP structure were recorded in industry at 115.1 percent, in transportation, storage, information, and communications at 113.0 percent, and in other service sectors at 112.1 percent. Below the national average were construction at 105.9 percent, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries at 107.8 percent, and trade, accommodation, and food services at 108.8 percent.

Economic growth during the reporting period was supported by positive dynamics in key sectors. The gross value added generated by all sectors amounted to 95.6 percent of total GDP and grew by 7.7 percent, contributing 7.4 percentage points to overall GDP growth. Net taxes on products accounted for 4.4 percent of GDP and increased by 7.4 percent, adding 0.3 percentage points to total economic growth.

Over the course of 2025, the sectoral structure of GDP experienced minor shifts. The share of services rose from 48.2 to 48.6 percent, industry from 26.1 to 26.8 percent, and construction from 7.2 to 7.3 percent. At the same time, the share of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries decreased from 18.5 to 17.3 percent.

Gross value added in the industrial sector reached 472.7 trillion soums, marking a 6.8 percent increase compared to 2024. The primary driver of this growth was the manufacturing industry, where value added increased by 7.7 percent.

In construction, gross value added amounted to 129.2 trillion soums, with the volume of completed works rising by 14.0 percent. Specifically, building and facility construction grew by 7.4 percent, civil projects by 30.8 percent, and specialized construction works by 38.4 percent.

In the services sector, gross value added totaled 859.9 trillion soums, demonstrating growth of 8.5 percent. The fastest growth was observed in information and communications services at 23.9 percent, trade at 13.6 percent, accommodation and food services at 10.4 percent, and transport and storage at 10.1 percent. Other services increased by 5.4 percent.

Within the value added of the trade sector, retail trade excluding motor vehicles accounted for the largest share at 54.7 percent. Wholesale trade, excluding motor vehicles, made up 32.9 percent, while wholesale and retail trade of motor vehicles and related repair services accounted for 12.4 percent.

The share of transport and storage in the national GDP was 5.5 percent. Within this sector, road transport dominated with a 56.4 percent share. Pipeline transport accounted for 10.1 percent, railways 7.3 percent, auxiliary transport activities 17.5 percent, and air transport 8.7 percent.

GDP per capita in 2025 reached 48.8 million soums, a 5.7 percent increase in real terms compared to the previous year. For comparison, in 2024, this indicator was 41.3 million soums, with growth of 4.5 percent.

The share of information and communication technology (ICT) services in the national economy amounted to 2.7 percent. Within the gross value added of ICT services, 32.9 percent came from telecommunications, 46.3 percent from computer programming, consulting, and related services, 11.9 percent from data hosting and processing services and web portals, 5.9 percent from software publishing, and 3.0 percent from computer and communication equipment repair.

Small businesses generated gross value added of 923.5 trillion soums in 2025, accounting for 52.2 percent of the total across the economy. Within the small business value added, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries accounted for 30.9 percent, services 43.9 percent, industry 14.6 percent, and construction 10.6 percent. The share of small enterprises was highest in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries at 93.1 percent, in construction at 75.6 percent, in services at 47.2 percent, and in industry at 28.5 percent.

Gross value added from the unobserved economy, including household activities, individual entrepreneurs, and the shadow sector, totaled 498.0 trillion soums in 2025, or 26.9 percent of GDP. Of this, household and individual activities accounted for 351.0 trillion soums, equivalent to 19.0 percent of GDP, while the shadow economy represented 147.0 trillion soums, or 7.9 percent.
