Uzbekistan’s Car Sales Fall by 6.4% in September, While Demand for Electric Vehicles Reaches Record High
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Center for Economic Research and Reforms has released an updated analysis of trends in Uzbekistan’s automotive market.
According to the report, total passenger car sales in September amounted to 84.6 thousand units, a 6.4% decrease compared to August.
The steepest declines were recorded in Surkhandarya and Navoi regions, as well as in Tashkent, while Syrdarya and Tashkent regions showed positive dynamics.
The primary market for new vehicles experienced a moderate seasonal slowdown, with sales dropping 15.2% to 31.9 thousand units. Domestically produced cars maintained their leadership, accounting for 27.4 thousand units, down 16.1% month-on-month. Sales of new foreign-made cars also declined by 8.9%, reaching 4.5 thousand units.
In contrast, the secondary market remained stable: 52.6 thousand used cars were sold in September, only 0.1% lower than in August.
The electric vehicle (EV) segment continues to grow rapidly. In September, sales hit a record 7.8 thousand units, up 21.6% from the previous month.
During the third quarter of 2025, a total of 20.7 thousand electric cars were sold — 2.2 times more than in the same period last year.
The highest growth in EV demand was observed in Tashkent, as well as in the Tashkent and Samarkand regions.
