Uzbekistan’s 2026 Budget Law Adopted and Sent to the Senate

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At its latest plenary session, the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis considered the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2026” in its second reading.

It is noted that the preparation of the draft for the second reading differed from previous years: particular attention was paid to the financial and economic support for measures aimed at implementing the priority directions of the “Uzbekistan — 2030” Strategy. During committee and party faction discussions, deputies raised over 100 questions and submitted more than 10 conceptual proposals and recommendations, many of which were incorporated into the draft law.

Significant changes were made to the draft in line with deputies’ suggestions. For example, at the initiative of the members of the UzLiDeP faction, 50 billion soums was allocated for the creation of interregional hospices in Tashkent and Fergana regions for patients with cancer and other non-communicable diseases in late stages. These facilities will provide medical and psychological care both in inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as at home when hospital treatment is not possible.

On the proposal of the Democratic Party “Milliy Tiklanish” faction, 194 billion soums from the republican budget is planned to be allocated to the Tourism Committee, taking into account systemic measures for the development of the sector as a strategically important direction of the economy and for improving public administration in tourism.

The NDPU and SDP “Adolat” factions proposed an additional allocation of 67 billion soums to the Public Fund for the Support of Children to identify and assist children in difficult life situations.

The initiative of the Uzbekistan Ecological Party faction to allocate 24 billion soums for financing socio-economic projects in the Aral Sea region aimed at improving the environmental situation was also supported.

During the session, members of the government working group, as well as representatives of the relevant ministries and agencies, provided explanations on social and economic issues. Parliamentarians emphasized the need to increase the accountability of state bodies for the rational use of budgetary funds and to strengthen parliamentary oversight.

Following the review, the Legislative Chamber adopted the draft law and sent it to the Senate.
