Uzbekistan Views Poland as Key “Gateway” to European Markets
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has identified Poland as one of the key “entry points” to European markets, noting that rising freight costs in the EU negatively affect the competitiveness of Uzbek products.
In this context, the Uzbek ambassador to Poland has been tasked with preparing concrete proposals to reduce logistics expenses for shipments to European countries.
Particular attention is being given to coordinating with Polish partners on establishing a dedicated corridor for Uzbek freight carriers at the Brest border checkpoint, which would accelerate the movement of goods and lower costs.
At the same time, relevant Uzbek ministries are preparing for a session of the Intergovernmental Commission with Romania, during which specific measures to expand trade and economic cooperation are expected to be developed.
The President emphasized the importance of establishing a trade house in the port city of Constanța and set a target to double Uzbek exports to Romania in 2026, marking a significant step toward strengthening the country’s position in the European market.
