Uzbekistan Updates Export Procedures for Jewelry Semi-Finished Products
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputies of the Legislative Chamber have reviewed a draft law aimed at improving the procedures for exporting semi-finished jewelry products beyond the customs territory of Uzbekistan.
The country continues large-scale efforts to develop the jewelry industry, enhance the competitiveness of Uzbek products on international markets, and boost exports. In 2025, the number of entrepreneurs operating in this sector exceeded 2,700, while exports of jewelry semi-finished products reached 5.1 tons, valued at US$439 million.
The new draft law requires obtaining an official conclusion from the State Inspection for Control of Precious Metal Assaying under the Ministry of Economy and Finance when exporting jewelry semi-finished products made from precious metals outside Uzbekistan’s customs territory.
During preparation of the document for the second reading, the committee conducted comprehensive work: proposals from deputies were taken into account, necessary amendments were made, and certain provisions were aligned with existing legislation.
Sapargul Utemuralova, member of the Committee on Entrepreneurship, Competition Development, and Industrial Issues, emphasized that the law’s provisions aim to improve state policy regarding precious metals and stones, support the development of the local jewelry sector, and protect the lawful activities of domestic entrepreneurs.
Following discussions, deputies approved the draft law in its second reading.
