Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 March, Uzbek officials held online consultations with the Social and Human Sciences Sector of the UNESCO Secretariat to discuss the organization of an International Expert Forum on AI Ethics, scheduled for September 2026 in Tashkent. The initiative was first announced by the President of Uzbekistan in November 2025 during the opening ceremony of UNESCO’s 43rd General Conference in Samarkand.
Uzbek participants included representatives from the Ministry of Digital Technologies and Uzbekistan’s Permanent Mission to UNESCO. From UNESCO’s side, attendees included Acting Director of Research, Ethics, and Inclusion Daphne Feinholz, Head of the Executive Office Mariagrazia Squicciarini, and Head of the AI Ethics Group Ti Vi Ang, among other specialists.
The discussions focused on the forum’s concept, thematic agenda, participant profiles, and organizational arrangements. Emphasis was placed on the event’s practical orientation, expert format, and alignment with UNESCO’s international priorities. The forum will build on UNESCO’s AI Ethics Recommendations as a global reference, promoting constructive international dialogue on ethical AI development.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and practical engagement in the field of artificial intelligence.
