Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 March 2021, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Farhod Arziev held negotiations in the format of videoconference with the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations - Head of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs Liu Zhenmin.

The UN Deputy Secretary General was informed about the transformations being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the implementation of state programs, key priorities of the country's socio-economic development, outlined in the Address of the Head of State to the Oliy Majlis.

Liu Zhenmin congratulated the Uzbek side on the successful presentation of the first Voluntary National Review on Progress in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. It was emphasized that this is evidence of the republic's commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Separately, the measures taken in Uzbekistan to integrate the country into the world economy, improve the well-being of the population, as well as mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection pandemic were noted.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on further expanding cooperation with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs in areas of mutual interest.
