Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 November 2020, the second round of inter-ministerial political consultations between Uzbekistan and the UAE in the format of a video conference was held.
The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Furkat Sidikov, the delegation of the United Arab Emirates - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Khalifa Shahin al-Marar.
The parties conducted a thorough review of the state of bilateral relations with an emphasis on enhancing ties in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres, exchanged views on the practical aspects of interaction within the UN, OIC, WTO and other international organizations.
The importance of deepening investment cooperation and building up tourist exchanges, especially in the field of Ziyorat tourism, was noted. Mutual interest was confirmed in enhancing the activities of the Uzbek-Emirates Investment Company in order to expand the scale of ongoing joint projects.
Special attention was paid to issues related to the settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan, as well as the prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE in the Afghan direction.
Proposals were considered on the schedule and agenda of joint events planned for 2020-2021, the establishment of an inter-parliamentary dialogue, and the expansion of the legal framework for cooperation.
Within the framework of the consultations, other issues of the general agenda were also discussed.
