Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan discuss bilateral ties

The meeting brought together the heads and representatives of a number of government agencies and departments from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

A delgation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev visited Turkmenistan to take part in the meeting.

The agenda of the eleventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan Commission for trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation covered a wide range of aspects of bilateral cooperation. Its key areas include transport, communications, transit, trade and other sectors.

The members of the Commission dwelt upon humanitarian cooperation as an integral component of interstate relations based on historically established spiritual and cultural affinities of the two neighbouring nations.

The participants in the meeting expressed belief that the Commission would continue to contribute to strengthening and expanding Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation based on the goodwill of the sides, long-term positive experience of cooperation and willingness of the two countries to fully implement the tremendous potential of cooperation in mutual interests.

The sides signed the protocol after the meeting had concluded.
