Uzbekistan Tourism Attracts Japan: Nearly 33,000 Japanese Visited in 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A special event highlighting Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities was held in Nagoya, Japan.

The initiative was organized in cooperation with the Japanese travel company Club Tourism International Inc., with support from Uzbekistan’s Tourism Ambassador to Japan, Keisuke Minami. Around 200 guests attended the event.

During the presentation, hosted by the diplomats of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, it was emphasized that tourism has become one of the country’s key policy priorities in recent years.

Thanks to infrastructure modernization, sector reforms, and simplified visa procedures, Uzbekistan is gradually building a reputation as one of Central Asia’s leading travel destinations.

These efforts are already showing tangible results: nearly 12 million foreign tourists visited the country in 2025. Special attention was given to the growing interest from Japanese citizens, whose number exceeded 32,000 for the first time—a 162% increase compared to the previous year.

Participants received comprehensive information on Uzbekistan’s cultural and historical heritage, UNESCO World Heritage sites, regional tourism potential, national customs, traditional cuisine, and popular routes appealing to Japanese travelers. Guests were actively encouraged to consider Uzbekistan as a destination for future trips.

Kenji Yoshizaki, head of the Nagoya branch of Club Tourism International Inc., highlighted the steady growth of Japanese tourist interest in Uzbekistan and shared plans for new travel programs. Among these is the launch of a special tour titled “Travel to Uzbekistan with Tourism Ambassador Keisuke Minami.”

Tourism Ambassador Keisuke Minami, a well-known actor, also shared his impressions from his visit to Uzbekistan in August 2025, discussing the country’s rich historical heritage and tourism opportunities.

The event included a dedicated information stand, where guests could explore tourist maps and brochures about Uzbekistan published in Japanese.
