Uzbekistan to strengthen control over illegal use of energy resources
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree introducing amendments and additions to regulatory acts aimed at improving the fight against the illegal use of energy resources.
The key changes are focused on simplifying mechanisms for detecting violations and enhancing control over fuel quality.
Specifically, under the amendments to the Presidential Decree of 24 May 2023:
The Electricity, Petroleum Products, and Gas Use Control Inspectorate (Uzenergoinspektsiya) has been granted expanded authority to conduct inspections of enterprises engaged in the extraction, processing, transportation, storage, and sale of fuel and energy resources.
Inspections may be carried out at any time of the day as part of control measures.
The inspectorate is required to register each inspection in the "Unified State Control" system within 24 hours of its commencement and notify the relevant authority.
The measures adopted will enable more efficient detection of violations and enhance state oversight in the energy sector.
