Uzbekistan to repatriate citizens from the United States

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is actively strengthening its cooperation with the United States in the field of migration policy and the repatriation of its citizens, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Akhror Burkhanov.

As part of bilateral agreements, a special charter flight from New York to Tashkent will be organized on 30 April to return Uzbek citizens who are residing in the U.S. unlawfully and are listed for deportation. More than 100 individuals are expected to return on this flight.

"This repatriation initiative is aimed at protecting the rights of Uzbek citizens who find themselves in difficult circumstances abroad and is carried out in accordance with international standards, obligations, and human rights principles. It concerns individuals who violated visa regulations or whose legal stay in the U.S. has expired," the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the repatriation process is being conducted with full respect for humanitarian and legal principles, ensuring the dignified and safe return of citizens.

The operation is being carried out in close coordination with the consular and migration authorities of both countries.

“All measures taken are in line with the laws of Uzbekistan and the United States and are focused on upholding the rights of repatriated citizens,” the ministry added.

This step is part of Uzbekistan’s broader migration policy, which aims to regulate migration flows, legally protect its citizens abroad, support their social reintegration, and ensure their safe and humane return home.

"Uzbekistan will continue to develop its migration policy and remain committed to supporting and protecting its citizens in all circumstances," the Foreign Ministry concluded.
