Uzbekistan to punish ads of hookahs

The press service of the committee said that State Competition Committee directed letters to the enterprises, working in catering, producers and distributors of these products.

The committee underlined that facts of advertising and calling to consumption of alcohol and tobacco products, including hookahs, at facades of the buildings and in social media, etc.

State Competition Committee recalled that it is banned to advertise alcohol and tobacco products, as well as their consumption in line with the law “On limiting spread and consumption of alcohol and tobacco products”.

The committee underlined that heads of some catering organization create conditions for their consumers to consume alcohol and tobacco products, including hookahs.

It warned that the persons, advertising or promoting alcohol or tobacco products, as well as consuming these products in public are liable in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan.
