Uzbekistan to open new consulates – Uzbek FM

He said that number of citizens in foreign states is increasing. He said that there are over 100,000 citizens of Uzbekistan in the US and over 1 million in Russia.

Uzbek Foreign Minister underlined problems in consular services, provided to the citizens of Uzbekistan in foreign states. He said that currently measures adopted to open new consulates and strengthening them with new staff.

In particular, Kamilov noted existing problems in Russia, when citizens of Uzbekistan had to travel thousands kilometers to reach the consulates of Uzbekistan.

Minister said that Uzbekistan plans to open new consulates in the regions of Uzbekistan and increase number of staff. He said that special attention will be paid to improving quality of services, provided to the Uzbek citizens.
