Uzbekistan to Offer Preferential Loans up to US$20,000 for Study at Top 300 Global Universities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, Uzbek youth under 30 and teaching staff enrolled in overseas universities will be eligible for educational loans of up to US$20,000 (equivalent in local currency).

According to a government decree, the loans are available for study at universities ranked in the QS and THE (Times Higher Education) top 300. Loans are issued by banks for one academic year for both undergraduate and master’s programs.

Family members with a stable income — including parents, siblings, or spouses — can act as co-borrowers. The principal is to be repaid over seven years, beginning from the seventh month after the official completion of studies.

Funds are provided to commercial banks through the Educational Loan Financing Fund under the Ministry of Economy and Finance via the platform resurs.imv.uz. Banks may periodically request official confirmation from the foreign university that the student continues their studies.
