Uzbekistan to Launch Mass Adoption of Intensive Agrotechnologies in Cotton Farming
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has approved Resolution No. PP–370 “On Additional Measures for the Application of Highly Efficient Intensive Agrotechnologies to Increase Yields in Cotton and Grain Farming.”
The document sets target indicators for 2026: cotton yield is expected to exceed 50 centners per hectare, and grain crops should reach 100 centners per hectare. In cotton farming, a system will be implemented based on scientific achievements and the traditional “ustoz-shogird” (master-apprentice) approach.
According to the resolution, preferential loans for cotton cultivation will be issued at a 0.7 coefficient of the standard yield, while any portion of loans exceeding a 0.6 coefficient will require liquid collateral.
Expenditures on agrotechnical measures, including the purchase of plastic mulch and drip irrigation hoses, will be covered through preferential loans allocated annually via commercial banks from January to August.
A 5% subsidy on the value of sold cotton will also be introduced for farms that utilize up to 50% of their annual preferential loan limit.
The large-scale implementation of intensive technologies aims to increase agricultural sector productivity, strengthen food security, and enhance the country’s export potential.
