Uzbekistan to Join Regional Eco Summit 2026 in Astana

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan will take part in the Regional Environmental Summit 2026 (RES-2026), which will be held in Astana from 22 to 24 April.

The event will bring together heads of state, experts, representatives of international organizations, and development institutions to discuss key issues related to environmental protection, climate change, and sustainable management of natural resources.

The summit aims to create an open international platform for developing joint practical solutions to pressing environmental challenges and strengthening coordinated dialogue among Central Asian countries on climate and environmental issues.

The program will focus on eight major areas, including support for the climate transition, adaptation and economic resilience to environmental and natural risks, food security, ecosystem preservation, sustainable natural resource management, air pollution reduction and waste management, ensuring a fair and inclusive regional transition, developing mechanisms to achieve environmental ambitions, and strengthening environmental and digital competencies for a sustainable future.

Around 1,500 delegates are expected to attend, including representatives of government bodies from Central Asian countries, international organizations, academia, business communities, and civil society, as well as partners from the European Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Middle East.

The summit will also host the international exhibition “RES 2026 EXPO,” which will showcase advanced environmental and green technologies as well as investment solutions in sustainable development.

A joint declaration by the heads of Central Asian states aimed at enhancing regional cooperation in environmental protection and sustainable development is expected to be adopted following the summit.

The initiative to hold the Regional Environmental Summit was proposed by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

International partners of the summit include the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the International Energy Agency, the International Renewable Energy Agency, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Water Management Institute and the SWITCH-Asia Programme.
