Uzbekistan to invest US$114m into leather industry by 2020

According to the Association, some 34 projects are directed at modernizing current capacities, while 48 projects will create new enterprise.

Realization of these projects will allow to increase production of goods up to US$476.5 million and the volume of exports to US$301.2 million.

Association Uzbekcharmpoyafzali is planning to organize production of footwear in Namangan. The cost of the project is US$1.2 million. The capacities of the enterprise is 400,000 footwear a year.

Production of leather products will be organized in Ferghana city with the cost of US$2 million. Annually it will produce leather goods for US$1.4 billion soums.

According to the Association, the enterprises of the industry are planning to manufacture goods for 484 billion soums in 2016.

In particular, the industry is planning to produce 8.745 million pairs of footwear n 2016. The volume of exports will make up US$190.5 million.

In 2016, the Association is planning to realize 9 investments projects worth US$18 million.
