Uzbekistan to Introduce Universal QR Code for Payments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan will implement a single universal QR code for payments, according to a presidential decree on the development of financial technologies signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 27 November.
Under the 2025–2026 fintech support program, unified standards for QR-code payments for goods and services will be introduced.
Central Bank Chairman Timur Ishmetov has been tasked with launching a pilot test of the universal QR code in December, in cooperation with banks and payment service providers.
By January 2026, the Central Bank will develop and approve the necessary regulations governing the use of the universal QR code in payment services.
From February 2026, the universal QR code will enter full-scale operation, standardizing payment processes and ensuring compatibility across different banks and service providers.
