Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is preparing to introduce a recycling fee on construction glass to offset the costs associated with the processing and recovery of waste generated during its use.

The relevant draft law, developed by the Agency for Technical Regulation, has already been approved in the first reading by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

The legislation aims to minimize the negative impact of construction waste on public health and the environment, reduce waste volume, and ensure its effective secondary use.

According to the authors of the bill, the introduction of a recycling fee will not only cover disposal costs but also create incentives to improve the quality of construction glass and expand export opportunities for domestic manufacturers.

The draft law proposes the implementation of a systematic and environmentally focused model for managing construction glass and the waste resulting from its use.
