Uzbekistan to introduce paid selection of "premium" numbers for ID cards and documents.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to introduce a paid service allowing individuals to select "premium" numbers for ID cards, international passports, driver’s licenses, and vehicle registration certificates.
A draft government resolution, published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for public discussion, stipulates that citizens, foreign residents with a residence permit, and stateless persons will be able to choose their desired numbers through electronic platforms such as my.gov.uz (EPIGU).
The system will operate as follows: users register on the electronic platform, select an available number, make a payment and receive an invoice, link the number to their personal identification number (PINFL) after payment, receive a notification confirming the number assignment, and obtain their ID card within 90 days.
The service is scheduled to launch on 1 March. Until 1 July 2025, expenses will be covered by the MIA’s extrabudgetary fund, after which funding will be sourced from the sale of "premium" numbers. The revenue generated will be allocated to improving the material and technical resources of the Road Safety Service and providing bonuses to employees.
Payment for the service will be distributed as follows: when applying through the MIA website or its mobile app, 30% of the fee will go to the MIA’s extrabudgetary fund and 70% to the state budget. When applying via EPIGU, 10% will go to the public services development fund, 11.75% to the Ministry of Digital Technologies (including 0.5% for the billing system), 30% to the MIA’s extrabudgetary fund, and 48.25% to the state budget.
Serial numbers will remain free of charge and will be assigned automatically.
