Uzbekistan to introduce liability for preparing to commit mass riots
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have approved the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan."
The draft law adds a third part to Article 244 of the Criminal Code, introducing penalties for training with the purpose of committing mass riots. The fourth part of the article establishes direct responsibility for financing mass riots.
Additionally, the article has been supplemented with a new fifth part, which exempts an individual from criminal liability if they voluntarily report to law enforcement agencies about undergoing such training.
The adoption of this bill aims to ensure peace and security in the country, as well as prevent crimes.
The draft law was approved by deputies in the third reading.
