Uzbekistan to increase limit on tax-exempt sponsorship assistance to 34 million soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to raise the maximum amount of sponsorship assistance that is exempt from taxation.
At a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the draft law aimed at further improving the social protection system and supporting disadvantaged populations was discussed in its first reading.
According to the document, amendments are proposed to the Tax Code and the Law on the State Customs Service. Specifically, in order to encourage socially significant activities, the draft law proposes increasing the maximum allowable amount of sponsorship assistance that is tax-exempt. This refers to funds provided by sponsoring organizations to families included in the "Unified Social Protection Register" or the "Register of Low-Income Families." The proposed increase would raise the limit from 15 million soums to 34 million soums.
Additionally, the draft law stipulates that starting from 1 January 2025, the state duty rate for registering public associations of persons with disabilities, veterans, women, and children will be reduced by half.
As noted by the developers of the document, its adoption will help improve the living conditions of socially vulnerable groups, provide opportunities for their active participation in public and state life, and more fully meet their basic life needs.
Following the review, the deputies supported the draft law in the second reading.
