Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has reviewed and approved in its first reading the draft law "On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Administrative-Territorial Structure of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

The document aims to further digitalize the system for registering administrative-territorial units and integrate the relevant data with the electronic databases of ministries and government agencies.

The bill proposes the introduction of state registration for decisions regarding administrative-territorial units in electronic format, ensuring uniform information exchange. In this regard, a systematic code for administrative-territorial designations will be introduced, along with a comprehensive list of administrative-territorial units incorporating the designated entity.

Additionally, to align the names of state institutions with legislative acts, the bill includes changes to the names of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Statistics Agency under the President of Uzbekistan.

The implementation of this law is expected to establish a centralized database with reliable information, enhance the efficiency of intergovernmental cooperation, and improve the country’s digital governance framework.
