Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan, in cooperation with Austrian company Bauer, will introduce sprinkler irrigation technology on 7,500 hectares of land in the Khorezm region. The announcement was made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The President stated that an agreement had been reached with Bauer to implement the technology across 7,500 hectares in Khorezm. A pilot application on 2,500 hectares across 24 farms in various regions showed promising results: water consumption was reduced by 40%, fertilizer use by 35%, and manual labor by 90%, while cp yields increased by 25%.

Farmers will receive €15 million worth of irrigation systems under a 10-year lease agreement with an annual interest rate of 2.5% in soums. The Austrian equipment comes with a 10-year warranty, and technical specialists will be trained free of charge.

Authorities have been instructed to implement a pilot project on 1,500 hectares this year, with a €2 million budget, and expand it to 7,500 hectares next year.]
