Uzbekistan to host "Respect for Women" week
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 3 to 10 March, Uzbekistan will host "Respect for Women" Week, dedicated to International Women’s Day, the Committee on Family and Women has announced.
The events, organized in accordance with a Cabinet of Ministers protocol, aim to support women, protect their rights, enhance their social, economic, and political participation, and promote employment and entrepreneurship.
Throughout the week, media competitions highlighting the practical results of recent reforms, as well as ceremonial gatherings, will be held.
Award ceremonies are also planned, where 331 women out of 890 nominees recognized for their active participation in public and state life will receive the “Mutabar Ayol” (“Honorable Woman”) badge.
Women listed in the “women’s” and “youth” registries, as well as veterans, will have the opportunity to visit the New Uzbekistan Park, museums, theaters, cinemas, and concerts at a discounted rate.
Additionally, book and brochure presentations will take place, focusing on women’s empowerment and social engagement. Schoolchildren will participate in an essay competition titled “Mother – the Symbol of Our Family, the Source of Kindness.”
On social media, flash mobs and challenges will be launched with youth participation, featuring themes such as “Respect for Women – A Sign of Kindness and Justice,” “Mother – The Source of Kindness,” “I Am Proud of My Mother,” and “My Contribution to the Country’s Development.”
Under the slogan “You Are Always in the Spotlight!”, mobile medical units will operate in mahallas, offering comprehensive medical check-ups for women in need of social assistance.
Cultural and educational events will be held in correctional institutions, with members of the “Okila Ayollar” (“Wise Women”) movement and the “Ayo Ma’rifati” (“Women’s Enlightenment”) public council under the Committee on Family and Women conducting workshops and training sessions on topics such as “Women’s Spirituality,” “The Joy of Motherhood,” “Problem-Solving and Rational Decision-Making,” “Communication Psychology,” “Healthy Nutrition,” and “A Healthy Lifestyle.”
Furthermore, sewing, cooking, and gardening workshops will be held in mahallas.
"Dear women of our country, esteemed young ladies, we invite you to actively participate in ‘Respect for Women’ Week!" the committee urged.
In many countries, International Women’s Day is traditionally marked by solidarity actions, marches against discrimination, and demands for gender equality.
