Uzbekistan to develop draft law “On medical insurance”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is planning to introduce mandatory medical insurance.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures on further developing private sector in healthcare”.

According to the resolution, Uzbekistan plans to develop a concept of the draft law “On medical insurance”.

The resolution said the law will envisage universality and compulsory coverage of each citizen by the system of medical insurance.

The document will provide equal rights to medical and preventive services for every citizen, and also guarantees the provision of paid high quality medical services in accordance with the insurance policy.

The resolution said that the participants of compulsory and voluntary medical insurance will receive various preferences.

The law will also establish the legal framework for voluntary and compulsory health insurance and will regulate tariffs for medical and preventive services.

The document will also describe the mechanisms for regulating the size of insurance obligations, insurance premiums and insurance payments.

Uzbekistan plans to establish a Mandatory Medical Insurance Fund. The fund will manage health insurance funds.
