Uzbekistan to cooperate with South Korea in the creation of a specialized cancer hospital

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan arriving in South Korea led by Minister of Health Abdukhakim Khadjibayev met with Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Korea Kwon Dok Chol. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Seoul, an exchange of views took place on the current state of cooperation in the field of healthcare and priority areas for further strengthening cooperation in this direction were identified.

The delegation of Uzbekistan arrived in South Korea in order to study the Korean experience and technologies for the construction of cancer hospitals. In the city of Tashkent, it is planned to build a specialized oncological hospital capable of treating and operating oncological patients with a high severity of the disease.

During the talks with the South Korean side, an exchange of views took place on the management and construction of specialized oncological hospitals. The Minister of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea stressed that 2021 marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in Healthcare between the two countries, which is a fundamental bilateral document in this area.

The South Korean side highly appreciated the close mutual exchanges and interaction between the two countries in various fields, such as health care, medical services, pharmaceuticals and e-health, carried out within the framework of a special strategic partnership.

At the suggestion of the Uzbek side about the importance of the participation of South Korean experts and leading companies in the creation of an oncological hospital, the Minister of Health and Social Affairs of the Republic of Korea stressed that he would be glad to have the opportunity to contribute to improving the health of the people of Uzbekistan by transferring the South Korean government’s know-how on the construction of high-profile oncological hospitals.

Kwon Dok Chol also proposed to intensify bilateral cooperation by filling the agenda of the meetings of the intergovernmental working group on health issues. In his opinion, in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to further strengthen, expand solidarity and cooperation between countries.
