Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Work on registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will begin in Uzbekistan. The corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the Special Republican Commission to Combat Coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health, the commission decided to certify the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in Uzbekistan and begin work on its registration.

It was noted that more than 7 thousand volunteers took part in testing the ZN2001 vaccine from the Chinese company Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. There were no complaints of side effects.

The commission also instructed the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare Service to develop a procedure for vaccination of the population.

Vaccination will be carried out exclusively on a voluntary basis and, primarily, among the following population groups:

elderly people over 65;

people with chronic diseases;

medical workers;

employees of preschool educational organizations, schools and universities;

employees of the internal affairs bodies who are in direct contact with the population.
