Uzbekistan to allow entry with ID cards for citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to permit short-term entry for citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan using national ID cards, and for minors — with so-called “kinder passports.” The maximum stay under this scheme will be up to 30 days.
This initiative is part of a presidential decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 15 May, aimed at significantly increasing the flow of foreign tourists.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has been tasked with initiating negotiations with the respective countries within three months to coordinate the new border-crossing arrangements.
It is worth noting that Kyrgyzstan was the first country with which Uzbekistan implemented such an ID-based entry agreement, beginning in 2023.
