Uzbekistan Temporarily Restricts Operation of Gas Filling Stations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 16:00 on 10 March 2026, Uzbekistan has implemented temporary restrictions on the operation of automotive gas-filling compressor stations (AGNKs). The Ministry of Energy explained that the decision is a response to a sharp cold snap and increased natural gas consumption by households.
According to the ministry, the influx of cold air masses has increased the load on the country’s gas transportation system, leading to reduced pressure in main gas pipelines.
The Ministry of Energy emphasized that limiting AGNK operations for private vehicles will allow the redistribution of resources and ensure a stable gas supply to residential areas. Priority during extreme temperature fluctuations remains the uninterrupted provision of gas to the population.
Public transport and vehicles serving social services are not affected by the restrictions; these vehicles will continue to receive gas at specialized stations as usual.
The ministry apologized for any inconvenience and recommended that drivers plan their routes in advance. Full operation of gas-filling stations will resume once weather conditions stabilize and pipeline pressure returns to normal.
