Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 December, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

Presidents exchanged heartfelt congratulations on the upcoming New Year, sincerely wishing the fraternal peoples of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan peace, wellbeing and prosperity.

Current issues of bilateral and regional agenda were discussed, priority tasks for further strengthening Uzbekistan – Tajikistan friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership were identified during the conversation.

Special attention was paid to cooperation in ensuring stability and security, countering modern challenges and threats.

Agreements were reached on enhancing practical cooperation, including increasing trade turnover, promoting cooperation projects, expanding interregional and cultural-humanitarian exchange.

The heads of state reviewed the schedule of the upcoming bilateral and multilateral events. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also wished the President of Tajikistan a successful presidency in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2021.
