Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 November 2022, in Samarkand, on the sidelines of the European Union-Central Asia International Conference on Interconnectivity: Global Gateway for Sustainable Development, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin.

Topical issues of Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship and good neighborliness, strategic partnership and alliance in various fields were discussed.

It was noted that thanks to the joint efforts of the leaders of the two countries, unprecedented progress has been made in the development of bilateral cooperation in recent years.

The readiness of the parties to coordinate efforts for the comprehensive implementation of agreements at the highest level was reported.

The importance of holding an active dialogue between parliaments, governments and line ministries was emphasized.

Proposals were considered to increase trade and economic cooperation, further increase the indicators of trade turnover, support direct contacts between the regions of the two countries, implement cooperation projects in the fields of energy, industry, agriculture and other sectors, incl. at the expense of the Uzbek-Tajik investment company.

An agreement was reached to continue cooperation on the rational use of water and energy resources and the development of sustainable transport and communication ties.

An exchange of views took place on the interaction of the parties within the framework of international institutions, as well as on certain issues of regional policy.
