Uzbekistan Studies Geothermal Technologies in France to Modernize the Energy Sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 19 to 26 November, a delegation from key energy institutions of Uzbekistan conducted a working visit to France to deepen knowledge of geothermal solutions for centralized heating systems.
The event took place within the framework of the “Energy Transition in Uzbekistan” technical assistance program, funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and implemented by Expertise France.
The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Energy, the Reconstruction and Development Fund, Uzbekgeophysics JSC, and Issiqlik Ta’minoti JSC. Participants studied the processes of identifying, developing, and operating geothermal resources, as well as methods for integrating them into urban heating systems.
During the visit, French specialists from BRGM, its engineering subsidiary CFG, and other organizations conducted technical seminars, field excursions, and in-depth discussions.
The delegation became familiar with France’s long-term experience and sustainable management practices for geothermal projects.
The acquired knowledge is particularly relevant for the implementation of Uzbekistan’s large-scale program to modernize centralized heating systems and for introducing renewable low-carbon solutions aimed at diversifying the country’s energy mix.
