Uzbekistan Studies China's Experience in Transport Digitalization
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a visit to the People's Republic of China, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, visited the control center of the "Karamay Smart Transport Project," where he was introduced to modern digital solutions in urban transportation.
As part of the visit, the Uzbek delegation familiarized itself with the advanced technologies implemented in the Chinese intelligent transport center. Particular attention was given to digital traffic regulation systems, 24/7 traffic flow monitoring, traffic analysis algorithms, and automation of public transport routes.
The "Karamay Smart Transport Project" center was established to enhance the efficiency of urban infrastructure, road safety, and passenger comfort. The center actively applies artificial intelligence and big data analytics technologies, enabling real-time optimization of transport processes.
The Uzbek delegation was introduced to key components of the smart transport system, including:
Adaptive traffic light management — with phase and cycle adjustments based on traffic density, helping to reduce congestion;
“Electronic police” and checkpoint systems — automatically identifying traffic violations and recording them for further analysis;
Centralized equipment management — monitoring the condition and operation of all system components;
Real-time monitoring — continuous surveillance of traffic flows, equipment status, and the overall road situation;
Automated diagnostics and maintenance — early detection of malfunctions and preventive measures to ensure uninterrupted operation of the infrastructure.
A notable innovation is an AI-based algorithm capable of identifying individuals and locating lost items within the transport network.
According to specialists, implementation of this system in Karamay has led to tangible results: a significant reduction in road accidents, improved intersection throughput, and a notable increase in overall urban mobility efficiency.
The Uzbek side expressed strong interest in adapting this experience to local conditions, emphasizing the importance of intelligent solutions in building a sustainable and safe transport ecosystem in the cities of Uzbekistan.
